Object name: slgvent
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For this object, i shall guide you through creating a custom gamesys
and creating a particle FX for the steam then linking the FX to the
vent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 1 (Creating the Object)

First extract the contents of this .zip file into your main Thief 2
directory.

Open up Dromed's Hierarchy. Inside "Physical" we shall be creating a
new list. Let's call it "MyStuff" Click on "Physical" and then "Add"
Type "MyStuff" in the box and click "OK" Now click on "MyStuff", click
"Add" then type "SteamVent" in the box and click "OK" (You should
now have the same as seen in mystuff.jpg)

Double-click on "SteamVent" and we shall create the new object.

In best order...

01) Add: Shape/Model Name = slgvent
02) Add: Physics/Model/Type = OBB with 6 Submodels.
03) Add: Physics/Model/Controls = Location/Rotation
04) Add: Physics/Model/Dimensions = (X) 0.83 (Y) 3.00 (Z) 2.00
05) Add: Physics/Misc/Collision Type = Bounce
06) Add: Physics/Model/Mantleable = Leave box unchecked.
07) Add: Schema/Material Tags = Material Metal
08) Add: Object System/Immobile = Check the box.

That's the new object set up. (It should be the same as seen in
newobject.jpg)

Now we have to set your mission to use your new gamesys...

In the command console, type: set_gamesys yourname.gam then save your
mission then your new gamesys.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 2 (Creating the Particle FX)

Click on "MyStuff" then "Add" and type: "SteamVentFX" Double-click
on "SteamVentFX" and we shall create the FX...

01) Add: SFX/Particles = (See particles.jpg)
02) Add: SFX/Particle Launch Info = (See launchinfo.jpg)
03) Add: Shape/Model Name = FX_particle
04) Add: A/AmbientHacked = (See ambient.jpg)

Double-click on "SteamVentFX" then click "Add" and select
Links/ParticleAttachment then link "SteamVentFX" to "SteamVent" (As
seen in dialog.jpg) Now double-click on the ID number and add:
(See linkdata.jpg)

Save your updated gamesys.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Extra bits...

If you would like to be able to control the FX, add to it:
S/Scripts/Script 0 = StdParticleGroup and Script 1 = ActivateAmbient

You'll also need to go back and uncheck "Active" in the "Particles"
section. (As seen checked, in particles.jpg) To control the FX, just
link a lever to the FX. (This is best done out of the gamesys though
as everytime you create a "SteamVent" you will have to create a lever
and link it to the FX!) If you wish to use the vent without the FX,
just create a "SteamVent" then remove the FX, that surrounds it, in
the editor.

A message from Sluggs...

Ever since i've been using Dromed, i've been wanting to create my own
models. I was sick-to-death of using the same old ones and had to do
something about it. Thanx to Steven Glanville and the free program,
Anim8or, i've been able to do just that! Steve's tutorial on creating
an EggPlant got things going - Thanx Steve.
